This workshop will examine oral history projects in Europe related to national and European institutions in order to present best practices at the practical and methodological level. It will bring together historians and EU lawyers involved in European oral history projects. On the first day, political sociologists and legal historians will start by discussing the methodological and practical aspects of official history projects of European institutions before going into practical examples of oral history projects applied to European courts.
On the second day, the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History will discuss its project (in cooperation with the Saxo Institute of the University of Copenhagen and the Historical Archives of the European Union) on the oral history of the European Court of Justice with the scholars involved. This part of the workshop is restricted to participants in the project.
